There are millions of people from around the world who become scarred caused by acne each year, and for some reason, the known best solution is only intervention. It is known that genetics play a major role according to the severity of acne and consequent scar formation thus, the scarring has been linked to a much severe form of scarring that occurs in adolescence or adulthood.

It is better according to studies to treat the outbreak earlier since the better the odds are that scar formation will only be mild however, when one gets to delay further treatment of acne scars in 3 or more years increases the risk of more further acne scarring.

Mostly, for those who are fortunate enough is that acne scarring is considered as a minor irritation. and to some it can cause such distress, emotions are unhighly stable in a way that there would be low self-esteem due to disturbance of self-image, there would be depression, and loss of self-confidence. Worse scenario of this is that there would be male-suicide which is considered as a higher risk factor.

The only key to this is early medical intervention to prevent insignificant scarring but this does not necessarily mean that when you get to see a single blemish that you should rush and have it evaluated by your dermatologist.

There is what we consider the PIH which means as Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation wherein it occurs to those with pale skin tones a color change in either pink, red or purple in color and to those with dark skin tones may notice either brown or black spots wherein it is considered as a normal remnant of the skin's inflammatory process it only fades even unassisted but then the darker the PIH the harder for it is to resolve, remember that PIH is not a true scar, but when it outlasts more than a year, it may be a determined as an undeviating problem.

Mederma can help in the treatment of newly healed wounds and also to resolve acne problems, it helps hasten the resolution of reddened spots. It is the first topical gel created to reduce appearance of old and new scars that is made from a patented botanical extract that is affordable, easy to use and most importantly, effective. Mederma is a gel based that you won't have acne flare-ups. However, it is important to know that you won't have to apply it on your skin too generously since an acne prone skin may not be able to tolerate any product that smothers the skin. Don't further aggravate your acne by applying too much on your skin just thinking that you can eliminate the discoloration.

Those areas that is brown in nature, the use of a bleach which is usually hydroquinoine is incorporated into acne and skincare regimen. If your dermatologist has prescribed you of using hydroquinoine and glycolic acid, the use of bleaches like Glyquin and Lustra Af are very effective to resolve skin discoloration, both of this products contains SPF. Products that are nonprescription bleaching are B. Kamins Chemist Skin Lightening Treatment,
Peter Thomas Roth Potent Skin Lightening Gel Complex, and ScarGuard Lightener.

At the same time you can also try Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Acne Mark Fading Peel. This is a clinically proven formula that contains the active ingredient of 2% Salicylic Acid to treat acne that can be used one to three times per week and that it contains an enzyme to exfoliate the skin thus reducing the appearance of post acne marks with its regular use, in order to have good results, it should be used consistently.

When using products such as these, you need to avoid the sun as much as possible, use sunscreen since sun protection prevents the process that the Ultraviolet light caused by darkening of the skin thus, further allows the bleaching treatments to work without further interruptions.

Need to Know

You need to know that now all acne scars are alike since a forceful inflammatory response may have two results and its most common outcome is loss of tissue known as the collagen is destroyed so the outcome may have a soft saucer-shaped depression also known as the pock mark or the jagged ice pick scar is formed, more typical on the face and seen on both men and women.

Keloid which less frequently excessive scar tissue is formed as fibroblasts are triggered that is commonly seen on the male's torso. As for aging, it can affect scar visibility since after 40years old, only 1% of dermal collagen is lost annually, with this loss combined with reduced skin tone, scars further become more visible.

Treatments

There is no known "best solution" in scar treatment when it comes to treating acne scars. Do you know why? because what is considered here is the location, depth, and number of scars all affect treatment decisions. It also depend upon the amount of effort you plan to devote to the treatment, your expectations, the cost are the factors that is considered by your dermatologist.

Ablative lasers literally remove the outer layers of the skin, burning away scar tissue and stimulating the dermal collagen to tighten, reducing the amount of scar visibility.

Non-ablative lasers trigger changes within the dermis without injuring the epidermis. is the newest FDA approved laser for this treatment. Smoothbeam targets and heats the sebaceous gland, helping reduce sebum and acne formation. Heating the collagen helps tighten the dermis, resulting in less visible scarring.

Yellow pulse dye laser also helps treat keloidal scars, flattening and reducing redness as well as helping control itching of the raised scar.

Filler substances are best used for shallow, saucer-shaped acne scars. While none of these methods are permanent, results tend to last between 3 and 6 month.

Punch Excision. Ice pick acne scars have hard, irregular jagged borders and often the depth is irregular as well. Simple excision of these scars with a sutured closure allows the dermatologist to bring the dermis back together, get rid of the ragged margins and close the area with a fine, uniform line.

In dermabrasion, skin is usually anesthetized and also frozen, an extremely sharp that is rapidly rotating blade sheers away the damage tissue so the ultimate result is similar to that of laser resurfacing.

Microdermabrasion, this is no substitute of dermabrasion. This procedure is also done in an outpatient setting, it may either be in the physician’s office or even some day spas. The combination of topical products can help expedite this procedure as well.
A chemical peel involves in the application of a high potency acid upon the skin. The more potent the acid, the deeper skin penetration. This is in fact, more beneficial for post inflammatory skin color changes and the most minor of acne scars. As for at home use, consider the Ellen Lange Retexturizing Peel or the Cellex-C Speed Peel Facial Gel. Ultra aggressive phenol peels which reach the deeper dermis must be approached with great care and administered in a hospital-like monitored setting because they are associated with heart arrhythmias.
Topical for Atrophic Scars

Everyone always wants to know on what topical treatments or products can help acne scars. There has many clients who swear by Mederma, and ScarGuard ScarCare. for helping improve the saucer-shaped depressed acne scars, typically the newer ones. Certainly anything that has been shown to help stimulate collagen does bundle formation. Cellex-C the topical Vitamin A product should be used at separate times of the day.

In reality, however is that a procedure is going to maximize results, if you want good results whether it is done alone or incorporated with a topical agent.

Keloid Scar Therapy

Keloids are never easy to treat but there are a variety of options to continue to come to the market. Pressure dressings and massage may help fatten some keloids but is not considered a terribly effective form of treatment.

Silicone based topicals are en vogue. Consider ScarGuard ScarCare or Kelo-cote Scar Gel in order to help reduce keloid thickness and discomfort.

Steroid creams, injections and impregnated tapes can also be beneficial for treating keloidal scars. Cortisone helps shrink thickened, raised fibrous scar tissue.

Remember that the ealier the acne scar is dealth with, the less likely does acne scars will be in the future still. And as always, prevention is still the better and effective form of treatment.

This worked better than expected. After two days I thought my skin looked a little worse, but I gave it a week and started seeing improvement. After continued use, I think my skin is in a lot better condition. It's more balanced...not dry and not too oily, and my acne has cleared up.

I love it!!! I am an adult with mild acne. Breakouts are hard to clear up and have lots of blackheads. These have left scars, and very large-looking pores. I bought this product a few weeks ago, and my face is now clear, my pores are looking so much better. The day cream is wonderful, it doesn't get greasy, and it makes my makeup go on so much better. I have actually had several co-workers and friends notice and compliment my make-up lately, and using this product is the only change. I can't believe what a difference it has made in such a short time, and I can't believe I waited this long to try it. I personally have noticed nothing but changes for the good, and will continue to buy this product. It has lasted longer than I orginally anticipated, so when I think about the good it has done and how long it lasts, the price seems a lot more reasonable.

Have used this acne scars on the back of my arms and chest for a couple months. It seems to be working well to fade scars, and keep bumps away. Worked better than mederma or curad strips for me.

I've been a long time user of benzoyl peroxide, but lately it hasn't been doing much to control my acne. I started breaking out constantly. Not only has Scar Zone significantly reduced the amount of pimples that I have, but it really helps with spots left from past acne scars. There is a distinct odor left behind after applying, but when considering how much it's helped my skin, the odor is overlooked. I'll definitely buy this again!

I've been using this product for about 3 months now, and I am really happy with the results. I've been using it twice daily, and my acne is almost completely gone! The redness/scarring has lightened quite a bit as well but is still somewhat visible. This has worked better than any other product I have tried, so they've gained a loyal customer!

Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Acne Mark Fading Peel with CelluZyme rates 4 out of 5 stars, from 120 customer reviews.Product helped with more than just acne. I had brown aging spots because I tan a lot and after only 2 treatments they are almost gone. Of course so is my tan face, but I would absolutely buy again if needed. -- Michelle H, Haverhill, MA on July 14, 2007
Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Acne Mark Fading Peel with CelluZyme rates 5 out of 5 stars, from 120 customer reviews. This product really works to fade and diminish the scars left from horrible acne as a teen. The smell isn't the best, but it's tolerable, especially given how well the product works. I have sensitive skin and I use it everyday. I ran into a high school friend I hadn't seen in years and she thought I'd had professional microdermabrasion or peels to reduce the acne scars. Now I'll leave the house without foundation, something I never would have done before using this product. -- Anonymous on July 6, 2007
Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Acne Mark Fading Peel with CelluZyme rates 5 out of 5 stars, from 120 customer reviews.Another winning product by trusty Neutrogena! This product is great for hyperpigmentation due to acne scars. It's so much better than using a bleaching cream like hydroquinone because you can use it with other acne products, it's made to treat acne, and it's great for full face application. Results can be seen in about 2 weeks which is great. Highly recommend this product! PS: The smell is really not bad at all. -- Amber on May 23, 2007

Peter Thomas Roth Potent Skin Lightening Gel Complex rates 4 out of 5 stars, from 3 customer reviews. The key to success with this product, as listed in the instructions, is REGULAR use. It initially took about 2 weeks of daily use to see results, but they did come! Those little brown spots from old pimples, red spots and discoloration were all visibly lighter. As a bonus, this seemed to also clear up my chin area where I sometimes get acne. It's expensive, but worth it in my opinion. Will definitely keep buying! -- Anonymous on June 17, 2005
Peter Thomas Roth Potent Skin Lightening Gel Complex rates 5 out of 5 stars, from 3 customer reviews. This stuff really lightens dark spots. I had dark pigmented spots left on my face after healed acne and healed bug bites on my leg. It takes a a few weeks of diligently applying on the pigmented spots in order to see result. Not suitable to use immediately after a in-home peel, it stings. Best to use it after 1 day later. -- Anonymous on July 28, 2003
